PGCCCXCII: Pimpage

Uncanny coincidences of this world, Part 1:

The awesome lnkmstr10 commented on the most recent chapters of both Inside Skin and All I Want for Christmas and, only last week, I literally sat and read her fic, Realize What I Just Realized, from start to finish in one sitting.

So, I want to strongly recommend it to you all, because it’s just that good. (With a grand Seconded from Clom)

If any of you have any other recommendations of fics you read recently (if not Spashley, please kindly detail which fandom), feel free to pimp away.

* * * * *

Edited to add: Oh, you should read all of lnkmstr10‘s other fics, too, but especially Invisible. And Change.

Edited again [19.08.10] to add: Oh, and read the latest one, All I Have to do is Dream, too.

I did say most recent chapter, peanut, not that it was actually recent. Just because it was last updated before the Ice Age ended is no reason for me to say anything against my BFF when it can take me up to 14 months to update a story.

Yeah, I don’t remember losing to Sweden either, but the BBC remembers: Scotland 1 – Sweden 4.

Sweden weren’t even playing any of their recognised strikers! I see we had David Marshall in goal. That might explain it…

Edited to add: it was only a fortnight after Berti Vogts resigned. Those were the dark days.

    Annoying trollop made me laugh.

I was watching the BBC News before work this morning and they were in the middle of a terribly serious piece about Iran and introduced some guy from Amnesty International, whose name was Drewery Dyke. I spat my coffee.

When they followed up that report with the immortal phrase, “And, now, good news about the wild beaver,” I nearly lost it completely.

Although, none of that made me laugh as much as this explanation of a new word from the TV show Argumental.

Actually, I have less of a problem with her than it being someone famous. It’s not like we can go back in time and get Angelina circa Hackers (the only acceptable non-NR choice in my mind), so better to go with someone who comes with no preconceptions for the audience.

Yay friends!!!! Haha I have to say though, I don’t see myself as much of a “Southern Bell.” Is it bell or belle?” See, I don’t even know the proper saying. But anyway, I absolutely refuse to say Y’all, and I abhore the word “fixin.” I don’t see how it is a substitute for the word “going.” I’ll have have a talk with Webster about that one…you know, whenever he is reincarnated.

And for Missmaclay, I see you caught that about the accent-free accent. Haha, I say that I don’t have an accent, but my southern friends say I have a “northern/yankee” accent and my friends in the north say I have a southern twinge. I frankly think they’re all full of Bullshit and should leave me and my no-accent alone.

And who mentioned football? Gotta admit though, I say soccer. *Dodges rocks* Sorry! Blame America! Anyway, I absolutely love it. Finished up my last year for soccer at college, and I miss it terribly. I’m trying to find an adult league to play in so I can stay in some semblence of shape.

I’ve never heard of using ‘fixing’ for ‘going’. I know the Geordie way of saying going and I can’t even write that, only say it.

No talk of ‘soccer’ in here! It’s football!

The Jabulani is a great, great football, if a little light. My mate Michelle totally kicked it OVER the fence and right onto a car the other day. Good times. =P

lnk, no matter how awesome I think you are – and I genuinely do – Stefje is right to point out the house rules on the use of the term ‘football’ [expressed here in A Guide to Good Comments].

Yeebs, telling the difference between an ear infection and a tumour in a grown adult is very different from diagnosing tiny little babies. There’s nothing wrong with you that a good course of antibiotics won’t clear.

Aye boss! My apologies. That nasty word shall be erased from my vocabulary.

I remember freshman year of college I was juggling the ball in the parking lot when I had the great idea to kick the ball high up in the air. As soon as it came back down, it pegged some car with a terrible banging noise and I heard a door open and made a dead sprint to my dorm. I came out about two hours later to get the ball, after checking to see that no one was around. Thankfully my ball was okay! Oh, and I guess no permanent damage to the car either. Shame.

Oh, I read that story you rec’d, the Blinkmaster one. It was teh awesome.

Even more awesomer [that’s totally a real word – honest] is your new one. I don’t have a ff.net account, so I’ll leave my comment here:

I love the bit at the end of Ch3 where Spence wakes up, cos I hardly ever remember my dreams but, whenever I do, that always happens: waking up just at the good bit. I love every other bit of the story, too. Just that bit really made me smile.

Oh, and I have a special love for the Everlys, specifically, When Will I Be Loved.

to produce songs. I always appreciate a good sing-along tune. Makes for interesting car rides to work. And I’m glad you like it :) It’s a new concept, and it’s really fun to write because it’s different.

And I don’t rememeber who asked, but it’s actually Lnk: like Link for legend of Zelda-yes, I’m a nerd. But really Ink or Lnk are both acceptable. Hell I’d even answer to “hey yoy! Yeah you, with the hair.”

Aww, folks in Boston are very proud of their Irish heritage. They are, of course, simply Americans and I suppose they could just let it go, but everyone here just wants to belong somewhere. After all, we really only have 250 years of history as Americans and that is such a scant amount when placed up against the likes of Europe.

That being said, 3 of my great-grandparents were from southern Germany and, although I’m very proud of them, I’d never run around in a dirndl calling myself a German. I’m just a Texan.

I had a Care Bears lunch box when I was first starting school. And then Holly Hobby.

Dev, this kid in my 5th grade class, Joseph, had a Star Trek lunch box. Everyone used to try to run by him and grab it out of his hand. I don’t remember why him or why that box, but it got to the point where he would swing it around trying to fend other kids off with it. Then one day the handle slipped out and the box went sliding about 50 feet down the tile hallway of my elementary school. Best. Day. Ever.

have I mis-read this, 2 grown women are sharing a bed in “straight” way????

For “comfort”. One of them was in fear for their life.

I find lots of it embarrassing and too up its own lesbian arse.

Hear, hear. Personally, I liked Etheridge when she was younger, but I don’t get fawning all over her just cos she does chicks (and serially dumps them after marrying them).

And I stopped reading AE when Sarah Warne left cos she WAS AE. All of the newer stuff is just so embarrassingly lame. And horribly American (this is not an anti-American rant, my American chums, but a criticism of the poverty of the current writing staff in not being able to see beyond their own bedrooms).

Obviously, they still feature foreign TV stuff, but the site seems to want to force you into a category of lesbianism, many of which don’t really apply outside of the US because, you know, things are different in the rest of the world.

I think the site is a glaring example of a corporation trying to buy something successful and then destroying what gave it success in the first place: individuality.

feel free to delete Dev or Clom, I kinda got carried away there!

    1. You’re entitled to voice your opinions.
    2. I agree with you.
    3. Life’s no fun if you don’t get carried away occasionally.

I can’t hold your entire country responsible for the actions of a few Dutch and foreign footballers beating a few mostly non-Scottish arseholes. European club football these days is a bunch of foreigners playing a bunch of foreigners. It has nothing to do with national identity.

It’s not like the Dutch beat Scotland 6-0 or something, because, obviously, if that ever happened, you’d be DEAD to me.

    Oh… wait…

I just came to say I JUST noticed what you did with the header when I click on ‘Fights’. Alex and Livie look so awesome! And for some reason I can’t stop reading that story. :) I have to ask about the original header though: Does Glen have to be there? I mean, he’s just standing there, at least put Madison there lookimg all mad and stuff… :D Goodnight! <3

Norski? Where the fuck have you been?

Does Glen have to be there? I mean, he’s just standing there, at least put Madison there looking all mad and stuff

It seemed more balanced to have the two chicks on one side and the two guys on the other. Besides, I much prefer Glen to Aiden so, if I changed it, it would be Madison and Glen on that side. Although, as she’s in most of the stories on this site, maybe Kyla would be the better addition?
