An Author writes: This is… a hard chapter. It has a lot of bad things, mostly surrounding sexual violence. I know that a lot of people will find this extremely hard to take. At the start of the next chapter, Dev and I will put a mini-non violent summary in, so that if you wish to skip this chapter, you can continue the story without feeling too much out of the plot loop.

When I was younger, the BBFC [British Board of Film Classification] had a simple rating system: U (Universal); A (Adult, but a child could attend accompanied by an adult); AA (Adult, over 14s only) and X (over 18s only). They also had an H certificate for Horror, at one point, which I find somehow adorable.

It’s not often that I get to do the Author’s Notes for new fiction, but Sezje’s at work and I’m late with the beating betaing again. [Beating makes it sound like I’m either into S&M or I’m having a hand shandy. Which I’m not.]

Also, how coincidental is it that Yeeben asked for them to bathe and – voilà! – there’s a bath in this chapter?

So, this was started a while back and it looks like the Boss is bringing it back. This is not really a first chapter, more of an introductory taster, a preface, if you will.

How would I describe it? Well, first off, it’s not Spashley. It’s more like the dark version of The Princess Bride, I suppose. Robin Hood-y. Medieval-ish. In fact, I know no more than anyone else who’s previously read the beginning of this, so read for yourself and find out!

Rating: A (a little bit Adult). Implied violence, no sex.
